Healing time for skin removal?

I read all the posts about excess skin removal and I do read that it can take up to 8 weeks to fully heal.

What I would like to know is after the surgery, how many days until you could return to work?

I know the whole "everyone is different" but I want to know for "you".

I need to know that if I take a week off for this, being that my job only requires me sitting on my ass...lol...that I can return to work after a week, like I did after my RNY.

Could you walk ok if you had thighs done?
Did you have any problems with your arms?
Or your stomach if you had a tummy and/or panni?
Could you move your head ok if you had a neck lift?
What about scars? How "showy" were they if it was neck lift?

i'll need all those so I can tell by my own post that I'm really getting concerned...lol

Thanks for all your input and don't be afraid to add if I didn't ask something that would/will be an issue.

I have a sit on my ass all day at home job and my surgeon told me I had to take 3 weeks off. He said to heal properly your mind needs to relax as much as your body does. I wouldn't go back to work full time outside the house after a week, actually I wasn't allowed to leave Toronto until 10 days post op. You will likely tire very easily and when you are tired you need to take a nap.

For tummy you probably need 3 weeks minimum because even sitting can be an issue in the beginning. I was off for 6 weeks after my tummy tuck and hernia repair. The incision goes from outside hip to outside hip.
Can't answer about thighs but have heard that is a brutal recovery. the incisions often go into the groin area.
For me the arms were the most difficult recovery. I had my arms done with my breast reduction so I was basically cut from elbow to elbow and all the way under the breasts. Everything involves moving your arms so that is a tough recovery. Somewhat easier if they stop before the arm pits. You need to keep compression on the arms for a while after.
Can't answer on the neck lift but my understanding is the incisions should not be really visible.

Thanks for your reply...

Knowing now, would you do it again?  Pain was worth it? Worth the money?
If you wear a bathing suits, scars show?

Thanks again for your time!

I would do it again in a heartbeat. The pain fades pretty quickly. Worth every single penny.
The arm scars really only show if my arms are raised. They are pretty faint now.
The tummy scar is hidden by most undies and bathing suits. Again it is so faded.
I could care less if anyone sees my scars. I traded skin for scars and I'm glad I did.
I have some photos on my profile if you want to look (they show it all) but you have to be my friend to view. Most were taken pretty early out so the scars are much more faded now.

I took 2.5 weeks off for my tummy and arms. That was just about right. I think it was 12 days off work, plus weekends.

My boobs were easier. It was summer vacation for me, but I was up and about (and working at computer camp) in under a week.

I thought your time frame was more like it, I can't see myself being off for 4 to 8 weeks, I would go completely burzerk!  lol  there's a word for ya!!

I figured that boobs would be the "easiest" part of all surgeries.

Thanks for your reply E!

Nathalie an added note, you will most likely  have to wear binders for your breast and stomach area.

I truly don't believe that you could do mor ethan 1/2 of these surgeries combined in 10 days of recovery....everyone has a different pain threshold...but if you are limited, you have to be careful, because there could always be the unexpected, such as infection, or just plain other minor problems...

things that you could have never anticipated..so 10 days, is a very small window...did you discuss this time frame with your PS..because they would be able to tell you if any of this is realistic.~!

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!
