TV-16:9 Global 7pm ET WLS wait times..
RNY on 04/18/12
I watched the program last night. I am so glad you had the surgery and are on your way to a new you.
Thank you for sharing your journey.
Brenda M.
I have been very blessed in so many ways and am so thankful for all the kindness I have been shown. Nelson the man in the show with me is getting his surgery on March 28Th and soon will be on the losers bench with all of us. yes the wait time is horrible here and sadly there is NO support at all from the hospital for past patients, patients who were operated elsewhere in Canada or other countries. Our only help is via OH and here in Halifax a support group not funded by or supported by any health professionals. I just with they would see the quality of life gained and the medical benefits from having the operation.
I had seen this episode of 16:9 when it originally aired, but until now I had never made the connection that the story was about YOU. I am so glad that you are doing so well, despite the lack of support from your province. And I thought it was extremely clever of you to write that Obit and draw attention to the ridiculousness of the wait times in NS.
Remember the part about the man in Winnepeg was it? that was waiting for years and then he died 2 days before his approval letter arrived by mail...I cried. It really drove the point home for me that I am extremely fortunate, simply due to geography!
It also reminded me that I have an obligation, not just to myself but future WLS patients, to be a successful statistic in this program so that this data can be shown to governments as proof why there is a NEED for such life-saving surgery and how much more cost-effective it is to the province in the long run.

Witch dr do you consider a hottie lol. I wanted to bring them all home. Hehe. I even go to go back to Mexico with another lady to escort her down in January. So I got to see them all again it was wonderful. And this month the end of March there is a conference in Saskatoon and I get to see them all again, I'm so excited.
We were both talking about our Surgeon Dr. Timothy Jackson from Toronto Western.

Please take a chance to watch it. Its something to be very proud of. You were incredibly brave to participate in it. I was very moved by the stories told by the documentary and much rang true for my own life too. I am so glad to hear that you are doing ok in spite of the lack of local support.
best wishes.
