Back Pain

I am 3 weeks out from surgery and my back has been killing me the last few days.  Has anyone else had this problem after surgery?  I am wondering if my body is having a problem compensating for 43 lb loss in 6 weeks.

LuAnne I had a lot of back pain after my surgery but I think it was the uncomfortable hospital bed! Plus laying around alot more than I usually would? (maybe not sure) It did go away for me after a few weeks. I used a ho****er bottle to help ease the pain.  Hope you feel better.

I have suffered from back pain for as long as I can remember. The first few months after surgery it actually got worse instead of better. The weight loss (for me) definitely affected the way I walked, sat, stood and slept.

As much as I thought chiropractic was a bit 'out there', I tried and it did help.

Hopefully things settle down for you soon.

I have a history of back pain but this just seems to be nagging!  I think a chiropractor might be my next step, I am sure that my posture will be changing a lot in the next few months.

Thank you Kristie

 Hey Lu,

You aren't alone with the back pain! I've always suffered from a fair amount, but now at 5 months out, I've had some of the worst back pain ever. I see a massage therapist once a week, as well as a chiropractor once a week, which I've just recently started. He says from the amount of weight I've lost, its changed my posture quite a lot, and one of my ribs is actually out of alignment.. causing huge amounts of pain.
I've been for 4 visits so far, so I can't say yet whether or not its helping.. I have noticed some improvement, however that is completely reversed once I'm back at work. I hope if you go, it'll help you out :) maybe try massage therapy too? I always find that makes my back much happier :)

I think that massage and chiropractic care might be the next step for me!
Thanks

Maybe you need to go see Dr Shawna Green? She does a lot of deep tissue work and is highly recommended by several  members nof our group.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this LuAnne.  My lower back has improved since losing weight post-surgically.  I am able to stand longer and walk more.  Since my belly isn`t pulling down as much, I am able to move around better.
