ok...my referral to intake was received....what, realistically, is the wait time now until I get contacted by the centre I'm referred to? Just wondering....

Well, I'm just at the beginning of the sausage machine but I think it greatly depends on which center you are referred to. And, with summer on the way, we can expect that due to vacation time of nursing and medical staff that the OR will be a quieter place until September.
But, thats just my thoughts.....

You are right Carol-there is a very big difference between centres.

My doctor sent my referral Dec 1st, 2011. I didn't hear from St Joe's in Hamilton until the beginning of February 2012 with a letter in the mail telling me my orientation date was in June 2012.

Expect the process to be about 12-18 months from referral. as the others have said it all depends on the centre. I was 8 months from referral to orientation.

18 months would be a blessing. Guelph is over 2 years at this point I waited 23 months from ref to surgery

I've heard of some people calling and bumping up appointments and such. It doesn't hurt to make a phone call just to see if they received your referral yet.

since March 2012 - you can't call them to ask about the referral - they send confirmation of receipt back to the referring doc - so then "we" call our doc to ensure that they received the confirmation that the referral was received by central intake.....

i emailed the actual application intake and they confirmed they got my application, i got a letter in the mail about 4 weeks late for an orientation, then 7 months later i had my first nurse app
