Calories per day

I know that we are not supposed to worry about calories; but, I'd like to know how many calories people are eating per day?

I am 8 weeks post-op and want to know where I should be at as far as calories. I want to make sure that I'm not eating too many or too little.

I eat protein first and healthy foods, 5 times a day but all that adds up to quite a bit. I average 700 -950 per day, depending on the day. Is that a good range?

Also, I am finding that i'm hungry within a couple hours of eating. Is this normal?

Thanks,

Tracey

I know I'm still new, but at 4 weeks post op I eat 6 times a day every 2.5-3 hrs and average between 450-500 calories. I'm not too worried about caloric intake but my fitness pal app just tells me so that's the only reason i know....

I think 950 is a lot at 8 weeks out, but everyone is different.  I think I was eating around 500-700 cals up to the 3 month mark.

I am 9 weeks post op and asked this question at my follow up appointment a few weeks ago.

The dietician was hesitant to say but said that around 800-900 calories a day is good, with 60 grams of protein, 60-120 grams of carbs, and under 25 grams of sugar.

I try to get under 800 calories a day but sometimes with my food choices I need to eat more to get enough protein.

 Thank-you all for your input!

Katie - I'm glad you posted the info that your nut gave you - that will help me alot!

I rarely eat 950 cals - mostly around 700 - 800 but there have been a couple of days where I did hit the 900 mark. I log everything on myfitnesspal so that i'm accountable for what i'm eating.

I am steadily losing, and feel amazing. My carb intake is around 80 - 90g per day.

Thanks again!

That's awesome.  I also use myfitnesspal and find that when I exercise I lot I need to eat more because otherwise I don't feel good. Not hungry so much as just not good.

I know that calories burned from exercise don't count right now but I do find a trend in my intake.

I hit the 1200 calorie mark one day in June when I was outside in the cold all day and thought that my shivering was burning about 1000 calories :)

I know what you mean Katie! Some days you just need that extra food to keep fueling our bodies. Especially when we excercise!

You sound like you are doing awesome too! Keep up the great work!

I consume between 650 and 850 calories per day...give or take 50 calories on either side. It depends on my activity level, the time of the month etc. I am getting crazy hypoglycemic reactions to exercise lately, so I am not doing any extra stuff until I see my doctor...so I am trying to keep my cals down a bit toward the lighter end...of course, if I get hungry, I'm going to eat. I remember wanting the hospital to give me concrete numbers to follow too, but they just kept telling me to eat at least 60g of protein first, and then veg, then carbs.
So, I focus on that, and am doing quite well. Keep up the great work and all will continue to fall into place!
