I was told 3 hrs from the nurse and dr... And hospital.... But it ended up being just under 2 hrs. Guess I was a cooperate patient :) plan for 3 hrs in surgery and then 3 hrs in recovery (you'll sleep the whole time though)

Melissa! You must be beside yourself excited! Today, day 4 of Opti, I wasn''t too hungry tonight.
I wish you all the best on Wednesday. And if you speak with Tara, please tell her I am thinking of her.

Well, thank you ladies!
It doesn't really matter as there won't be anyone waiting but I just wanted to know. I guess I will get back to my room about 6pm then.
Thanks!

Usually 2-3 hrs. Can vary with Anesthesia etc... Expect about 3 hr in recovery. could be a little longer if you have sleep apnea.

Hi Carol! Nice chatting with you earlier. A few things to keep in mind. If your surgery is scheduled for 1 pm, there is most likely a surgery before yours. If that surgery is normal length, then you will go in at one and out usually by 4. I would suggest that someone be there for the doctor to speak to. If your daughter can come back, it would be a good idea. Just my opinion though have fun on Optifast!!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Hi Kelly,
It would mean so much to me to have someone there when I wake up but it was hard for me to even get my daughter to drive me there so its very unlikely she will stay. I have given my best friends name and I believe Heather's in the event I don't make it through  or if there is a problem.
She's told me that I should just lose weight on my own like other people can.
I will let you know if I have any other burning questions!
