My first race
Yesterday was a major NSV for me as I continue to recapture my life, less than nine months post RNY.
In April I began to jog/run a few times a week. Since then I have been making some great progress and have increased my frequency and have really began to love the freedom that comes with the ability to hit the track or road or treadmill and run!
Yesterday I participated in the Toronto 5K for Sick Kids Hospital.
I ran a very respectable personal best, crushing the 5K in 28m 48s and placing 185th in a field of more than 420 people.
It was an awesome feeling to cross the finish line ahead of goal of 30 minutes and to have my wife and two eldest boys there to cheer me on.
Below is a picture taken of me by my 9 year old son as I crossed the finish line.
I love life.
