Until Tuesday I would do a low carb diet so you stay in keotsis...Elizabeth could not take opti because of allergies maybe you can contact her about what she ate for her pre-op prep

then call the doctor on Tuesday morning

The alternate diet I was given is
9 oz (cooked) white lean meat (chicken and white fish)
3 servings veggies  (1/2 c cooked is a serving)
3 servings grains (ie 1/2 cup cooked rice is a serving, a slice of bread is one serving)
1 oz fat

sf jello, sf popsicles, lowfat low sodium broth, diet pop, lots of water
spices are ok as long as they are dry (not in oils etc)

an egg = 1 oz meat

use the Canadian Food Guide for serving sizes.

Start all vitamins and suppliments now.

You've gotten good advice here, I would just not have any grains of any kind - no rice, no pasta, no bread. Limit your fruit intake as it is full of sugar. Aim to have 50g or less of carbs per day. Eat meat, cheese, veggies and you'll be fine (you can even have some Thanksgiving turkey with salad!). Take some benadryl for the hives and talk to your centre on Tuesday.
I had OHIP approved Duodenal Switch surgery with Dr. Dennis Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton on March 7th, 2012. Want more information on the DS in Ontario? Send me a private message!

Prior to surgery, back in the stone ages, there was no Optifast diet.  Instead I was on a pure lean meat and green veggie diet (minus the peas of course). So breakfast was a chicken breast and salad, as was lunch, and dinner was steak or some other meat and salad. Worked like a charm.

If you have hives, stop taking the Optifast. Also get yourself some Benadryl. Best wishes.

Edited to add:  I also ate a ****load of stir-fries!

Try calling the hospital and asking if there is anyone on call for the bariatric clinic. They may be able to give you some insight on what to do until Tuesday.
