Mirena and WLS...

I had a Mirena in place for several years with no issues. No pain, no weight gain. I had it inserted to control abnormal, heavy and frequent periods shortly after my WLS which it did.

Eventually the bleeding started again so I had the Mirena removed and had an Endometrial Ablation.

Wow! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I got the Mirena in about 2004 because I kept forgetting to take the pill - which is how I got pregnant with twins in 2000! Before Mirena I had bad PMS (more moodiness than anything else). I don't get a period on Mirena and NO PMS symptoms! I was gaining weight before I got the Mirena, so I can't really blame the IUD. I had a new Mirena put in about 2009 and it definitely hasn't prevented weight loss post op! I'm down 100 lbs since July.
