Kingston Hotel Dieu Hospital

Hi All

I have just started my journey and I'm being seen at Kingston's Hotel Dieu bariatric team.  I was wondering if any of you have done your pre and post op through Kingston and what your experience was like.  I would also love to know how long it took you to see all the specialists and meetings prior to surgery.  I look forward to hearing about your experiences.                                                          

I am through Kingston. I have not had any issues. Longest part was waiting for sleep study results. You can see by my timeline that from my first appointment to surgery was just about 7 months. waiting for orientation was the longest

I am through Kingston too - sleep study and endoscopy took the most time - I am still waiting for my surgery date. It really depends on the testing you need.

The staff in Kingston are great.

Are you going to Toronto or Ottawa for surgery?  If so who is your surgeon?  Thanks again for sharing!  I really appreciate it.

I am going through Ottawa my surgeon is Dr Neville...however, sometimes that changes so you sign a release for either her, Dr Mamazza or Dr Yelle I believe!

Im in Kingston too....I met with Dr. Mamazza...but my surgeon ended up being Dr. Neville - she was awesome and very thorough about checking on her patients.

Hi Alberta, Welcome!  I am thru Kingston too.  I am pretty early in the process, but found after orientation things have been moving along nicely (so far!).  Have you been to orientation yet?

Yes I have.  I went to orientation on October 16th and I'm to see the Nurse Practitioner on November 6th.  I see that you are moving along rapidly, that's encouraging.  Are you planning on going to Ottawa or Toronto for surgery?  I'm planning on going to Ottawa.

I am planning to go through Ottawa.  I dread the thought of having to go to Toronto for follow up visits!

(Not that there is anything wrong with Toronto, I just don't like navigating the traffic there) :)

I am going through Toronto however all my followup appointments are going to be with the kingston team - Already have the 1 week and 1 month post op appointments set up. You can choose to go back to toronto for them or have them done in Kingston
