Captains Log-Day 1 of Opti

I woke up with the feeling that this is going to be a good day. It's like, no turning back now.

I got up, weighed myself and did my glucose level. YIKES!!! I was to reduce my insulin last night and so my sugar this morning is high for me.  Better high than low is my thinking.  I then grabbed my very first Opti packet.  Exciting!!!!

Proceeded to my blender where I put a little over 1 cup of water, (I figured I could add more if need be)

I put the Opti in and whola!!!! Blend, blend, blend. Grabbed some ice and then took my first drink. First taste wasn't so bad.  A little too sweet/ Chalky.  I took another swig.....I don't know maybe I should add some crystal light drops. So I did!  Here goes nothing...............................

UMMMMMMMMMM.....this is going to be a long too weeks!!!!!

Welcome to the Optifast club.  When I did it, I blended the ice with the water (more than recommended) and Optifast.  Sometimes I just did 650 ml of water, plus Optifast and 4-5 ice cubes.  I found the first couple of days I needed to cut the sweetness, so I bought a Timmies large decaf, put it in the fridge for the next shake and used it instead of the water, and added the Optifast and ice cubes.   (I did 3 weeks of just chocolate Opitfast).

Good luck,

Judy

I'm not a coffee drinker but it definitely needs something like coffee to cut the sweetness!

Lol I have to chuckle at your post....as today is day 3 for me.  Yes I agree it will be a long two weeks.

I have been making mine with 250 ml of water and about 6 ice cubes, I blend it all so it is like an ice capp. The best one I have has so far is the ones where I add decaf coffee to the chocolate, it takes the flavour of the shake away.

Did they give you any special instructions or anything because your diabetic?

Oh and I hope your not going through the optitrots....lol....not cool!! Not cool at all. Between the Opti and the water my new hangout spot is the bathroom.  LOL

Good luck to you...we can do this!! I only have 11 days to go....44 shakes....

It is a big concern for me being diabetic.  I had asked the doctor specifically what I am to do if I get a sugar low and he wouldn't answer.  He just said, "you won't". But did tell me to adjust my insulin according to my sugar levels. So obviously my sugars may go low and i should lower the amount given at night.  I'm just worried what to do during a sugar low...it gets pretty scary sometimes even when I know I can take something for it...now I can't!
