Onderland feels Wonderful

Wow finally made it.  I have not seen the ones since I was pregnant with my son and he turned 26 in September.

What a year it has been. Started Dec 2013 with left hip replacement at my top weight of 305 and I can tell you was a very hard recovery.  Had my WLS in May and was able to go from a size 24 to a 16 in time for my sons wedding in August.   Then on December 1st I had my right knee replaced (yes I have been off work more then being there this last year). Much better recovery.  I couldn't even imagine having that extra 100 plus pounds on me now.

I am so happy of the decision I made with WLS.  I no longer have sleep apnea and with having grand kids in the future I will be here for them and be able to run around and play with them.

It was such a special moment this morning and especially when my husband put his arms around me and told me how proud he is of me.

Thanks Jennifer.   Won't be long for you.

Even now when I'm shopping I still head

How awesome Kittykatt!  All of your hard work has paid off!  You are doing so great!

May I ask, how long did it take for your sleep apena to resolve?  I am 286 and 5'6" and I have sleep apnea.  My family doctor thinks I won't be rid of the apnea until I would get under 200.  I am pre-surgery but have my surgeon's appointment on January 16th.

Hi Dreamy74

The first test I did in 2012 I was on the mild side, and weighed approx 280 ish and was givin choice if wanted cpap and I declined as the overnite test with it, I hated. So then in Dec 2013 I had gained and clinic wanted me to retest and when I did I had severe sleep apnea and said I went from stop breathing 4 times and hour to 27. So I had no choice this time. Tell u I still hated the machine and honestly thought I was getting less sleep. I seemed to be more tired at work. But clinic said if didn't keep up with it would not do my surgery. So when I started the opti I weighed approx 305. And day of surgery was 285. I brought machine with me and guess what they never even put it on me at the hospital. Thank god I never purchased it was still a loaner. So by July I had make decision to buy it and with insurance I still had to put out around $500. By then I was down about 250 lbs and I was not using the machine and my husband said could barely hear me snoring so I booked an app with my sleep doctor and she approved me to take me off. I sleep much better now. But I do have to go back in March to be retested just to see.  Sorry for the long winded msg.  Lol but I guess everyone is different. But  I was taken off around weight of 250. Only with me I never got comfortable with it and was not getting the sleep they said I would.

Good luck with your journey

cathy
