Hey all,

So here's the deal, I have been craving oranges like crazy lately! But i cant remember if we are allowed to eat them or not. I am a little over 6 months out, and if i remember correctly someone told me that oranges are a food we should try to avoid because of the acidity. Has anyone else heard this? Did you have any problems with oranges? Any recommendations for trying them?

Thanks for the help!

Check with your centre, but mine allowed them at that point. I can't eat them now though, too much sugar and my pouch doesn't like them 😁

I've been eating them on occasion since about 6 weeks out. I am through Humber and I don't remember hearing or reading anything about oranges just to be careful with fruit because of the sugar content. I personally don't seem to have a problem with small amounts of fruit so far.

5 months out and I have had a couple of Orange segments now and again, I prefer the little seedless mandarins.  I don't eat more than 2 or 3 pieces because of the sugar content.

I can eat about 1/4 to 1/2 an orange without any issues and I'm 6 months post op.  Try 1 or 2 orange segments and see how your tummy feels.  Don't eat a lot or often, but if you can tolerate them, enjoy a little now and then!
