Hi Everyone!

I'm wondering if anybody can recommend any books that I can read to help me along with the journey. I with the TOH program. Don't get me wrong, I love all these posts on here and info on the internet but you can never learn too much. I see there is a weight loss surgery book available for dummies lol but if anyone has something that they read, that was good in dealing with the process of bariatric surgery, or what happens before and after, tips, etc etc etc., I very much would appreciate it. Thank you and best of luck on your journey!

I recommend Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery.

II didn't find a hard copy but I downloaded it to my kindle. I am pre-op and have found it useful.

I'm with you -- I did a ton of research beforehand and wanted all perspectives. These are a couple recommendations for you:

1) The Weight Loss Surgery Workbook (Samelson) - I liked it because it has guided activities to prepare you for surgery and after

2) The complete weight loss surgery guide and diet program (Ekserci) - this one is nice because it has a few recipe ideas for each stage

3) Stranger here (Jen Larsen) - this is an autobiography of someone who had DS I believe. It sort of reads as a what not to do after surgery. It was a bit painful (emotionally) to read, but a good perspective on how hard it can be to follow a good path post-op.

I own Weight Loss for Dummies and it was a worthwhile read. It offers a few recipes as well. Alot of the information is for people in the US (eg how to pick a surgeon) but its still useful.

Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink was an excellent read. When the head hunger starts to overtake me, I browse through it and it helps me get back on track.

The nutritionist and social worker were also very impressed when so brought it to my appointments - makes a good impression. ;)
