As you are all aware I had "gas pains" for some time. Well, it became time foe a visit to the ER last night. They took good care of me at Humber River. They did an ultrasound to rule out a gallbladder attack. So it wasn't that. Then they did a scope to rule out an ulcer. Dr Starr did my scope. It turns out all of this pain and discomfort was due to a large ulcer at the joint where they reattach the small intestine. Common on gastric bypass patients but as Dr Starr put it "on a scale of small, medium, and large yours is large." I did stop my Prevacid this week and look what happened (because of the six months). They're putting me back on Prevacid for a few months and on and Some liquid meds 4 times a day that coats the stomach. Can't remember the name. I'm on IV because I can't drink. I have no appetite and I haven't eaten a thing since early yesterday. If you EVER have any pains that are ant normal go your bariatric clinics ER. they always have a way getting you to the bariatric doctors. Luckily Dr Huynh was in the hospital today and he came to check in on me. He was also the one who admitted me right away yesterday. He was my surgeon. I am m so grateful for the care that I received. I should be discharged tomorrow and a few months should hopefully fix this. It was not pleasant let me tell you. Thanks everyone and remember to listen to your body- I'm glad I did.

Lucille, I'm glad they found out what was going on. They probably have you on Sulcrate to coat your pouch. Sending hugs.

Lucille from the sounds of it, your ulcer is pretty big. Talk to your doctor about a game plan where they are going to scope you again in a few months to see if the ulcer is healed. I would advocate staying on the sulcrate until you have another scope. Also you want to make see it's completely healed and not just almost healed. It's OK to be a squeaky wheel, it's your health.

I'm so glad you're starting to feel better already. This is a really important post because we can all too easily dismiss things as being unimportant pains. I'm so glad you didn't.

Keep getting well!
