Timing questions - opinions please

I am still about 30 pounds  away from goal but I know that plastics will be in my future. I have already started saving. I know that arms, breast lift, LBL, and possibly a thigh lift will be needed. My question is, is it to early to go ahead and talk to someone about the arms and breast lift? I know I need to be at goal weight and stable for a while before I even think about the LBL. Is it pushing it to consider fixing the top half now?

Thanks

Keisha

You can definitely talk to surgeons now but I would wait until you reached goal to have anything done. Even arms and breasts can change with a 30 pound loss. Some surgeons will not operate until you have maintained for six months. I got my arms done a month after I reached goal. I'm sure I consulted with him when I was around 30 pounds from goal.

Stay strict with your eating and you can lose the last 30 pretty quickly.

I went for Body Fat testing to help me determine where 'goal' realistically was. (If you go to my blog you can see my post on that) My first goal is to be a 'normal' body fat. I am 6lbs away. Even though I am not at goal, all the surgeons I consulted with seemed OK as long as I wasn't in the quick weight loss phase and had been losing slowly for awhile. My WL slowed considerably at 12 months out. It takes a little while for consults and actually scheduling surgery. The Docs who give price quotes usually say it is good for 6 months.

I have a hernia I want fixed at the same time, so it spurred me to look sooner than later.

The scan is a great idea. I think I will look into having it done. It will be interesting just to see where I currently am and where I could realistically get to.

I never achieved my goal weight before surgery per se but from my one year anniversary, I then waited and additional 9 months to go for my consult and then had surgery last week which was almost 2 years post-op vsg.

I basically waited until my weight leveled out and I didn't not have any huge gains or losses, and knew it was time.  If you are still fluctuating in both directions in large increments you may want to wait until you can level out for a bit.

Consults are usually free. I would say go start talking to doctors. Talk to as many as you can do get their opinion on what they think will work. My surgeon was very upfront with patients and said in order to get the best results you should lose more or hey you've done good this can all be taken care of now. This way you can also see how much everything will cost and what truly matters most and what you think you can do without for now.

I lost 89 pounds via vsg and just had a tummy tuck with lipo as well as a breast lift with silicone implants. My doctor gave me the advice that if I was ever thinking of having my chest done to do it at the same time because you are hardly affected by the chest pain when you will be focused on the tummy pain...and he was so right.
