Pre-Op Report: UBL/Mastopexy (11 days to go!)

I had my pre-op for surgery #2 today! It was also a two month post-op for surgery #1.

So let's see. He put silver nitrate on the oozy spot where my right hip drain was. He thinks upping my protein will help with the hair loss so I need to make sure to get in a 4th meal of protein shake every day. I'm free from compression garments - which means I can wear them as desired for my own comfort. I should continue using Biocorneum for 3-6 months (and I should buy it from them to make sure it's real). Everything is looking good for surgery #1!

For pre-op for surgery #2: I paid the surgeon's fees in full. The hospital will call me tomorrow or next week to collect their fees. I got my pre-op goodie bag. He thinks I'll be looking at a C-cup, which suits me just fine. I'll need to sleep on my back for 2-3 weeks and after that it's "at my comfort" which is good - better than the 6 weeks of back sleeping I'd feared. The surgery will be about 8 hours and then I get to go home once I'm done in recovery (yay).

Incisions will be anchor and then around the back at bra strap level. Woo!

I'll have some arm movement restriction and lifting limits so I don't engage back/chest muscles, but nothing too drastic. I will need Lovenox for 14 days post-op and that can go in my lateral thighs ("yay"). But at least there will be more targets for Lovenox, since there won't be compression girdle to dodge! I'll also have a "small drain" or two. Which is fine by me!

All good info. I'm ready for this thing. 11 more days!

Well I didn't have an UBL but I can tell you I had no pain from my breasts (not sure if they just didn't hurt or if the abdominal pain from muscle tightening in the LBL was just that harsh lol). Regardless, this will be SIGNIFICANTLY easier than your first surgery. You've got this!

I am so excited about this surgery. Both because OMG BOOBS and because I know it'll be a cakewalk compared to the first one. Funny how that helps :D

It was interesting talking with him and listening to him explain how breast lift post MWL is different. I'm not sure I caught all the nuance but it seemed to involved tacking things to the ribs which sounds fascinating.

And I think I've "consoled" myself to the idea of a C cup. I think, in my brain, a C cup is the cup size that "normal women" have. So I'm trying to remind myself that, hey, I'm a "normal" sized woman now. So a C will be peachy.

Ha! I also thought a C would be small when he told me that's likely what I would end up with (at my pre-op consult) and I was thinking, hmmm maybe I should get implants. And then he said they would fit my "athletic frame" and I was like WHAAAA? I have never in a million years thought of myself as having an athletic frame! (now granted, I was working out like a beast back then so don't be expecting an athlete in person next week lol) (though I did just get done with an hour on the elliptical - every day this week so far!).

Hahaha. He says amazing things. Like when he told me he wouldn't have to do much work on my abdominal muscles. WOO ego boost! :D

Are you still happy with the choice you made for lift only? (I think you are from what you've said.)

THRILLED. They fit well in my size medium clothes, a 34C bra is easy to find, they are perky and symmetrical and look good naked and clothed! I am honestly living in the body I feel like I was always supposed to have...sadly I just had to lose 190 lbs and spend a fortune on plastic surgery to have my destined body lol!

The breast lift was an easy recovery for me, too. My surgeon does not do the across the back scar for the upper body lift. He just pulls everything toward the underarm and combines it with the breast lift/arms. I wore sports bras that zipped up the front as my recovery garment and used maxi pads to cushion my incisions. I think I only had drains for a few days and removed them myself (with my doctor's permission of course).
