how much weight loss is too much weight loss?

i'm feeling pretty good about where i am, weight-wise.  i am a comfortable size 12.

but at only 7 months out, i have the sense that my body is not done losing weight.

i'm not reallllllllllllllly trying to lose weight anymore, but i'm just a few pounds away from my goal, and almost 10 pounds down from my surgeron's/nurse's goal for me.

i've never been this thin before in my life!  to be clear, i'm not complaining.

but i want to know if there is there any sense about when one's body will stop losing weight?

some people are saying i'm skinny now, yet i don't quite feel like it with my flabby thighs, arms and pannis.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

i'd like to know the answer to that as well.  i'm 5'7".  my original weight goal was 155 pounds.  i now weigh 143.6.  my nutritionist says i need to weigh 140 but i'm beginning to look really skinny.  i'm wearing size 4 now.  and....i look at all the loose, hangy down stuff and think....if this was removed with plastic surgery i'd weigh probably 10 pounds less......

i eat more now.....but my weight continues to creep down.  i'd be totally happy where i am.....but then....what about the dreaded "bounce back" weight?  my NUT says my body will stop losing when it's ready......

i'll be watching for other thoughts on this subject as well!!!

My surgeon suggested going 20 pounds below his goal and said that 30 pounds below goal was also fine.  His thinking is that there is about 20 pounds of bounceback gain when the honeymoon period is over. Most people feel good being about 10 pounds below goal so being 30 pounds under at bounceback time would put them at 10 pounds under goal.

My body quit losing on it's own at about 18 months out.  The bounceback started for me at 30 months and has been about 12 pounds of regain.

My original goal was 150. I am now in the 125 - 128 range. I wanted to be about a size 10-12 but kept on losing. I'm in a size 4 now. I've been maintaining for over 9 month's now. My body found where it is happy for now and while I may lose a litle more (not trying, just figure in with the nicer weather out, I'll be picking up on the running again and will probably lose a little more) but won't be upset with a few pounds bounce back. I'd just like to stay in the "normal" bmi range.

I'm now hoping to maintain -- considerably under goal.  I'm 25lbs under my surgeon's goal, 15lbs under mine.  My surgeon just told me to try to stay over 120, because he feels that below that my health will be affected.  My low has been 123, 125 this morning.  I'm 5'5".

I don't think I could have stopping losing at goal weight if I wanted to.  Once malabsorbtion drops off, we'll have to see what happens.  I'm scared of "the bounce"!

Everybody is different and those stalls are killer. I'm one of those "lucky" ones who only really had one stall that was about 2 weeks long other than that I lost pretty much every week (sometimes as low as .5 pound).

i didn't stall much.  when i felt like i wasn't losing as much weight as i wanted, i changed up my routine to keep my body guessing what was going on.

but in general:

i have not exercised religiously, though i exercise.

i have not counted calories religiously, but i have inputted my food diary into fitday.com every so often so i could get a better idea of what i have been eating.

i eat every few hours so my body doesn't think it's starving.

i eat healthy, staying away from sugar and fried foods, and limiting (though not eliminating) carbs.

i still have a protein drink and/or a protein bar almost every day to help with my protein intake.

It took me 23 months to get to goal (a normal BMI).  I have lost weight every month since surgery, but much slower in the 2nd year.  I'm eating the same - keeping a daily food diary to make sure I get enouch calories, protein, etc.  I will see where I stop.

I would like to go lower so I'm prepared for bounceback.
