Runny nose?

I have read on here about how some people get a runny nose and that is a trigger for being full?  My nose does seem to run when I eat....how can that be a trigger?

That's not a trigger;  that's your "high level alarm".  When your nose runs, your pouch is full.

Stop eating.

I have that. I use it as a tool!

Interesting, I've never heard that or experienced it. Hmmm, will have to be on the look out for it!

When I overeat, I sneeze. It occasionally happens...but when I feel a sneeze coming on, I know I'm done.

Happens to me. The pouch fullness triggers your Vagus nerve, which causes the runny nose :) Hiccups can be another symptom. If you get these - stop eating! :)

That is very interesting.  I have noticed it happening  a lot more now. I usually do stop eating. That is pretty awesome to have a tell tale sign like that!!! I had it really bad yesterday morning while drinking my protein shake. Half way through my nose was just pouring and stupid me kept drinking. I was a little uncomfortable for a few hours. I would not think liquids would make you full like that. I have read here where some of you have no problems with liquids. I, on the other hand can not drink fast at all, yet. So, I guess this can even be a trigger for non WLS people, runny noses?

When it runs it means your pouch is getting or is full.  Mine ran every time I ate.  Now at almost 2 years post op it doesn't any more.

That happens to me too.  I just know that it is time to stop eating.  Sometimes I will hiccup and that too, is a sign that I am full and need to stop eating.  One more bite after I hiccup and I end up very uncomfortable.

Not sure WHY these are signs, but it definitely if very common.

Strange but true, I'm a nose runner too.
