Eating for a marathon

Does anyone have any advice on what I should eat before, during and after a marathon?  I am doing my first one in 3 weeks.  I can't do a traditional "carbo load" because I still don't eat bread or pasta.  I have energy gels and bars during the race that should be sufficient.  Just wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions.

Thanks!

You should cross post in the Exercise and Fitness forum. There are lots of runners and IRONMEN who can help out.

I'm not a runner, but as an endurance cyclist I would say- don't do anything different on race day. Eat the same things you normally would, otherwise you could find yourself in a world of hurt!

Plus you can carb up with yams or potatoes if you don't do bread or pasta, but don't eat a huge heavy meal the night before. It's more like a few days before you should be increasing your carbs so you have enough stored up.

Good Luck! and have a great time!!!
