Post-surgery, how long until you could drive?

How long were you restricted from driving after surgery?  It's the one question I forgot to ask!

I'm trying to figure out how long I will need my husband to take my daughter to school!

Thank you,
Ellen

I was told after 48 hours with no pain medications or after my one week surgeons follow-up appointment.

I was discharged on a Thursday am and drove a short distance Saturday evening.

Same here.  I didn't even take any pain meds after leaving the hospital.  I was sent home with Liquid Lortab, but never used it.  Liquid Tylenol worked just fine for me.

I was cleared to drive as soon as I was off pain meds. I stopped taking them on Thursday after surgery on Monday, so I would have been okay to drive on Friday. I didn't actually drive until Monday, one week after surgery, when I drove myself to my follow-up appointment at the surgeon's office.

You should be able to drive as soon as you are no longer using pain meds.

Thanks, all! Sounds like I will at least need him to cover the rest of the week (surgery on Tuesday).
