Nervous to start soft solids
I'm two weeks out and luckily have had no problems whatsoever! I feek great and I'm getting almost all my protein in. That being said, I am scared to death to move on to the next stage. I pretty much feel like I have no sensation in my pouch...Im never hungry and when I have eaten soups or yogurt or drink protein shakes I dont feel 'full' but I wonder if thats because I take so long to eat...a 14 oz protein drink usually takes 1 1/2-2 hours to finish. I had 3/4 of a cup of pureed tomato soup tonight and took 45 minutes. When I eat will I know when Im full?

Even several months from now, you will not feel full from taking over an hour and a half to drink a protein shake... at the slow rate you are drinking it, the fluid is gone from your pouch LONG before you are adding more... so you are always putting the next sip/drinbk into an empty pouch.
Just curious... even being so newly post-op, why does it take you 45 minutes to drink 3/4 of a cup of soup?
Most surgeons tell you to measure your food early out so there will be no question about whether or not you are eating too much. Eventually, your nerves will heal and you will feel full. I actually felt full after only a couple of weeks.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
If you look at a diagram of your new anatomy, you will see that your pouch is basically a funnel and gravity will pull liquids through it fairly quickly. Your stoma may still be a bit swollen, but whewn I was less than a month out I had no trouble drinking 3 or 4 ounces at one time and then drinking 3 or 4 more 5 minutes or so later. You acnnot do any damage to your pouch with too much liquid or slider foods like yogurt.
