discomfort but doubt ulcer
I just looked up the symptoms for ulcer and I don't think it's that. But I woke up this morning early with the feeling that something wasstuck right between my breasts. I don't see how it can be food as I was fine last night and didn't have any issues.
I drank some water this morning and I wouldn't go as far to say there was pain, but the discomfort certainly increased when I thought it might soothe it. It's weird.
Has anyone else had the feeling something was stuck when it wasn't and what did it turn out to be?

I have had reflux for over 20 years. (even when I was thiin). It feels like that at night and in the morning. Laying down makes it worse. You can raise the head of your bed with wooden blocks and take a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) such as Prilosec. It takes about a week to work. Ask your PCP about it.
It would be ironic if it was reflux. It was the one sympton pre surgery I didn't have and RNY is supposed to improve it, not create it. Oh well. I'll wait and see if it stays the same or gets worse. Hubs has a cold and maybe I caught something from him and thats what I'm feeling but just don't recognize the symptoms properly because I've not been sick since surgery.
It just occured to me as I typed this what may have caused it. I had some pickled herring (I know, not everyones cup of tea but I'm from Scotland and we eat that sort of thing) late last night because I didn't eat much before the gym. Maybe eating something vinegary like that aggravated me late at night. It should have passed through my pouch before I went to bed but maybe it didn't??

I have GERD, and the pickled herring does sound like it could be the culprit. Also, caffeine (inc. chocolate) and mints can irritate the stomach spinter (muscle that keeps the stomach closed from the esophagus). Before surgery, I didn't eat 3-4 hrs before going to bed. Now, I wait 1.5-2 hrs. I've been on PPIs for greater than 10 years and my surgeon recommends it to all his patients for a year post-op. I elevate the HOB, but elevate it under the mattress with an air mattress made for this purpose (blocks on legs wasn't enough elevation). Before surgery, I needed 45 degree elevation, now it's 15 degrees. There has been a few times I forgot to elevate and I woke up with a sore throat, which is an indicator that I still need some elevation.
It may be ulcer, or irritation of the pouch... I get that way too often.
I did not have to take meds for acid before RNY. Post op - I do. Have to take one daily. It sucks.
Take it easy a few days... you may call a doc and see what he say.
Mine told me that my symptoms indicate either ulcer or irritated - swollen pouch. Treatment is the same - antacids- 2 time a day plus ulcer medication. If the symptoms go away - it was either ulcer or irritated pouch - or beginning of an ulcer.
It is good to get that treated before you get bleeding - or perforated ulcer (very, very painful and dangerous).
When I get the symptoms - not only I start taking the meds- but for at least 1-2 weeks - I follow a very mild - easy on the pouch diet. Then try to see if the pain - or pressure returns when I venture into foods that may irritate the pouch - like acidic or nuts, or something harder to digest.
But - next time you see a doc - talk to him /her about that.
