Too Skinny

My husband, and some of my family now say I'm too skinny. REALLY...Come on...Yes, I have lost 107 pounds but I can't control where it comes off of. My face and upper body have lost alot but I still have a butt and flabby legs. Yes, the flab is not going to go away without surgery but I am not to skinny. Although, I am very happy where I am. I don't really want to lose anymore weight and would love to maintain right where I am. Firming it all up would be great though....Can't believe 7 mo's ago I was in a 24 pants and 4X shirt. Now in a 12 pant and LG/Med shirt! Woooo Hooooo....good for me....Sorry for the rant but thanks for letting me rant somewhere!

The "too skinny" comments may not persist, once they start getting used to the new you. As annoying as it may be now, enjoy it! Congrats on your loss & keep on keepin' on!!

Congrats on you weight loss :)  If you are happy, don't worry about what others think, they will always have something to talk about, it's just the way people are :(

Really, it is all the people that knew you before the WLS. I had the same problem in the beginning I got a lot of the "you are starting to look sick", and "I think you have lost enough" then when I told them I was still 20lbs away from my goal, they asked where it was going to come from. It is OK. If you are happy with where you are or would like to lose more, do what is best for you. Just as long as you are taking your vitamins and making sure you are healthy on the inside, that is the most important thing! Congrats on your weightloss and have fun with the new you!

You'll probably here this for a while.  Once you level out and the quik weighloss stops you tend to fill out (in a good way).  Remember people have to get use to the new you adjustment just as you do.

Congrats on doing so well.

Hi,
I think this must be pretty common. I have dropped about 115 lbs and for the last few months, I get the "how much more weight are you going to lose?" question, this in a tone that is a bit judgemental, but I think they are more concerned about my health. These folks knew me at 255 and would never have guessed that I weighed in at that.

I think for the most part it is the transition they cannot quite wrap their heads around. It comes pretty quick and they have had little time to adjust. I understand their concerns, and so I usually just say that the weight loss has slowed to about 1lb a month and that seems to reassure them. It is the truth, more or less.

I know that some of us become angry, but really I think this is our auto-defense hangover from anyone discussing our weight. It has been such a lifelong sensitive subject for most of us.

If your weight is within a healthy BMI for your height, then just know you are OK.  If you find yourself getting below a healthy BMI, then get some guidance from a bariatric savvy nutritionist. Too thin is as much a health concern as is too heavy.

I am 5'7 and now wear a size 6 pants...before surgery I was wearing a size 22 pant. Who knew this skinny butt was under all that padding?

Lean and lovin it!

Embrace the new you and smile!

Heather
