Hi, Just wondering about something because my doctor (GP) mentioned it. Is there anyone out there who has had failure or success with the RNY after 10 or more years? I know short term the success rates have been great, but what about a decade later?  Thanks much!

P.S. I am considering this after my lap band has failed.

My surgeons coordinator is 13 years out. Not that its personal experience or anything but they're out there :P.

Thanks! Has your surgeon's coordinator been able to keep her weight down?

The admissions person at the sleep study center I went to is 11 years out and still within 10 pounds of her lowest weight.

The surgery won't keep the weight off. If you live by the rules after the honeymoon I can't imagine how you'd gain it back. That includes no eating/drinking at the same time.

Edited because half my post is missing...

Most of the people I know who had the surgery before me (I am almost 5 years out) are 7-9 years out and one is 12 years out. Most of them have gained a small amount of weight (under 25lbs), a couple have gained nothing or VERY little (<10lbs) -- whi*****ludes me as well, one or two (including teh one 12 years out) have gained back 30-40lbs, and one person has gained back most of the original weight (I am guessing a bit over 100lbs, but since weight is, understandably, a touchy subject for that person, I am just guessing).
