After surgery

After your surgery were you giving anything so you would not get blood clots? If so what did you have to take and for how long?
I was given something in the hospital. I can't remember the name right now,, started with an L, I think. I did not take anything after coming home, though.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

I wore these straps around my legs that pulsated to keep the blood flooring (wasnt uncomfortable)
I was also given injections and they where painless besides one given by a nurse who was miserable. They were given in my upper arms and I didnt have to do any at home...
Day of surgery I had one injection
Day 2 I was given three injections throughout the day
Day 3 I was given two injections
Surgery was at St Mikes, Toronto Ontario..
