What are you looking to do? Fun, ride around town, endurance, triathlons?

Then yes, Craigslist is the way to go! However, make sure you know where your Local Bike Shop is, so that they can help you get everything you need- esp. a helmet!

I love my bike and I got it for free on Craigslist.  Then I took it to my bike shop and told him what I wanted.  I got a new seat, new handlebars, new tires, added a front basket and 2 rear baskets and it's perfect.  All together it cost me less then $200.  It was easier doing it this way then trying to find one that had everything I wanted in a bike.
I just use my bike for riding around town, shopping, things like that.  It's more for fun and leisure then anything.

I just want it for fun, I havnt been on a bike for years and I think it would be a nice way to transition into a new activity  :)

That is same as me.  So far this is the only kind of activity that I really enjoy and doesn't feel like exercise.

I have been dreaming of a bike for about a year.  Once I found it, I fell in love.  It took me a year to get it, but oh so worth it and just got it last Saturday.  I LOVE IT!  It is an Electra Townie 7d in Orange Pearl.  Fantastic, comfortable ride.  Fort Collins is bike crazy so I can ride everywhere.  Not quite up to it yet being just 3 weeks out, but I will get there.  Not the cheapest bike on the block, but with bike, quality is EVERYTHING.  Go to a good bike shop and ride lots of bike to get a feel for what you like.  Now I won't be doing any triathlons on my Townie, but if you are into a fun, very comfortable ride, it is the way to go!
