Hoe much weight has everyone lost before surgery?  I have been on my diet for five days but I have only lost 5lbs...is this ok?  Some have lost 15-17lbs...

I have lost a total of 55 lbs so far (since January). On the two week liquid diet I lost about 18.  Seems like everyone is different and lose at different rates.

My surgery is Tuesday, and I started the pre-op diet 3 days early.  So today I have completed day 16 and I am down 12.5.  That's an average of a little less than a pound lost per day (maybe around 3/4 lbs/day).  I have followed the liquid diet strictly, so I realize my body isn't likely to drop more than another pound or so before surgery.  That's ok though.  I did what I was supposed to do so I have no guilt about not losing more.  You are averaging a pound a day- that's great!  Keep up the good work & good luck with your upcoming surgery!!!

I lost 8 pounds while on my 2 week liquid diet.  I thought it would have been more too.

I lost 10.5 lbs on my two week pre-op. Like everyone else i thought it would have been more but what i learned was that because i was staying hydrated, i wasnt losing those meaningless water-weight pounds. So the 10.5 that i lost were "for real" instead of just fluctuating water weight. And the one thing i've learned on here is that everyone is different and its tough on the psyche to compare yourself with everyone else. As long as you know that you're doing what you are supposed to do then trust your body. Good luck!!!

Thanks I know what you are saying is true..I think we have a tendency to compare and we really shouldn't..I just didn't want to get to the hospital only to find out I wasn't able to have the surgery..Can you imagine!!  Good luck to you too...
