I went to my 3 month check up and was isntucted on how to give myself my B12 shots. The thing is I went to the pharmacy and they didnt have the right needle I needed, does anyone know the difference between a 27 gauge and a 25 gauge? The pharmacy person gave me both needles  and told me to change the needles on the syringe...

The 27 gauge is a bit smaller and finer than the 25 gauge.  it will hurt less because it bores a smaller hole.  I have not taken a B12 shot before so I am not sure how thick the stuff is. If it isn't too thick I would use the 27 gauge.   I am assuming they gave you 25 gauge syringes and some extra 27 gauge needles?  Good luck!

The higher the number, the skinnier the needle is.  You can use either of those needles for your B12 shot but I would prefer the 27 gauge because it will not hurt as much doing the shot.  That's the size needle I have and I hardly even feel it.

ouch... even 27 hurts a lot. I use 29 - much thinner. Barely feel it. I can't use 27 - too much pain... lol..
BTW: I got mine on Amazon. check - insulin syringe 1cc-1/2 inch

Unless you got man arms and a fair amount of muscle go with the 27.  I use 25s and my wife has a hell of a time sticking me.  Sometimes it just bounces of as you really need a fair amount of pressure to break the skin.

I use 25s because I have a fair amount of muscle in my arms which is where I inject, if I did my legs I would probably need something bigger than a 25.

It doesn't hurt I just laugh at my wife.
