protein intake
I had surgery on Oct. 9th. I had a doctor's appointment Monday. He wants me to get 100 grams or protein a day.
I can only get that with adding more protein drinks. When I eat any meat my stomach churns like crazy and I am
pretty much done eating for the day. I even threw up yesterday when I drank water an hour later after eating. I don't
know why this is stressing me out so much but it is. Any suggestions would be helpful or words of support. Thanks.
Do you have the unflavored protein powder you can add to your food or drinks?
I would suggest putting your menu options here so maybe the pros can help you find foods that have more protein in them.
Good Luck my surgeon wants 120 grams I have a plan for that but I have been warned I will not be able to eat that much food for sometime and that included 2-3 protein drinks a day.

Michelle, has your surgery been scheduled yet? Hadn't seen you post anything about it in a while. Hoping everything is going well!

I agree with Lora, this isn't nearly enough food!!! Hit up the greek yoghurt, milk, lunch meat is usually easier to digest. No one should be expecting you to eat filet mignon yet (although some people manage it) but you should certainly be able to eat some poached white fish, shrimp, crab, tuna, chicken salad, egg salad, etc ...
ETA: make sure you don't overcook fish, shellfish or eggs - everything should be as soft and moist as possible - I will still on dry food!!!!
It takes effort to eat your protein but in the long run the ability to do so will ensure you are successful (and not hungry)!

Hi Michelle
Yes I had surgery Oct 9th. I am doing well other than getting in the protein. I have noticed also the increase of protein means
my water intake goes down. I have had a very uneventful healing. No problems what so ever. I have thrown up a few times
but that is to be expected and no big deal. And thanks to this forum I usually know why I threw up except for yesterday. I
don't know why? Except I might not be ready for dense meat.
The sample menu you posted is not enough food for being two months out. You don't have to eat meat to get protein. You can add more dairy products (other kinds of cheese (try ricoota with a dab of spaghetti sauce for the taste of lasagna without the pasta), yogurt or Greek yogurt (which has more protein), even just drinking milk). You can also add other kinds of beans or vegetables that have protein (lots of people don't know that peas are high in protein).
There is no reason not to drink for a half hour before a meal. The water goes out of our pouch almost as fast as it goes in, so your pouch will be empty 5 minutes after you drink.
You shouldn't be throwing up water that you drank an hour after food. Does this happen often?
When you say "meat" what kinds of meat have you tried? Some things are much easier on the tummy than others (deli turkey and ham are often the best start to adding meat back into he diet).
