What "that's probably not a good idea" food are you mad you can't eat right now?

Lays potato chips, or what I referred to as my bag of salt. I think I was the inspiration for you can't eat just one. A bag of chips and a Diet Coke, I do not think I should ever try just a few.

LOL @ bag of salt! I used to sit and read a book with a bag of Utz Sour Cream and Onion potato chips and a half dozen Diet Dr Peppers. It was my favorite alone time. I miss that ritual.

Man, if I had to narrow it down to one food..... hmmmm..... gotta be apple fritters. I dump on high sugar + high fat, so my fried dough sweeties are just completely not a good idea at all. Or I have 2 hrs of pain/nausea/palpitations/sweats to look forward to...  Most other things that I completely eschewed in the first year have either been categorized into 1) under the dumping threshold so I might do this in moderation or on rare occasion, 2) I don't dump on this but it's a gateway drug for the carb monster, or 3) no longer dump on this and it can be my daily/weekly treat! (for example, bananas. Way high on carbs but it's my treat for runs that exceed 1 hr. Whoda thunk that I'd be considering bananas a treat??)

Yeah, fried, sugar filled goodness is definitely no bueno for me too. No real dumping but man do I feel like complete crap after something like that.

Running for over an hour and treating yourself with bananas! Life is GOOD, isn't it?

I really miss carbs...pasta, rice, chips, tortillas, fresh baked bread.

But, I've also discovered a few foods that are on the "allowed" list, like nut  butters, that I really have NO CONTROL over. My portion sizes are still too big because it's a smooth, low density food, and I can easily eat too much without my pouch getting full. I've had trouble in the last 3 weeks with peanut butter and I just had to throw out the jar.

Come visit me on my blog, Through a Cooking Glass! I talk about my journey through WLS and learning to live, cook, and eat on the other side.

Yep gotta be careful about getting too much of a good thing. But it's always good to know your limits and to recognize when there's a problem.

Diet Pepsi for me.  I try not to tell myself I CAN'T have something or it'll be all I will want. I'll not let myself have diet Pepsi though due to carbonation and the fact that pre-surgery I would have about 3 20oz or 16oz bottles a day.  But I really miss it!!!!

It's definitely a gateway drug and no way no how will I ever drink Diet Dr Pepper again. I had a horrific addiction before surgery and I will not revisit that again. I feel ya, I really do!
