nsaids after RNY
I was wondering if you can have advil (or other nsaids) ever again after RNY, or is it just a certain length of time ??
Thanks :)

You can have them any time you want to. However, the risk of ulcers does not ever go away. It doesn't lessen in time. So basically, you can have them if you feel it's worth the risk.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

No, the risk does not go away. If you are dependent on NSAIDs you might want to consider a different surgery.
I used a lot of Excedrin Migraine before surgery, and my neuro switched me to Fioricet.

It's not recommended, although some surgeons will say occasionally will be ok if taken with a PPI. If susceptible to ulcers then you definitely do not want to take a chance. I've taken NSAIDS 2-3 times since surgery for 2 female procedures but do my darnest to not need or take them.
If NSAIDS are a necessity definitely consider the Sleeve or DS since you can take them with those procedures.

Make sure you get FioriCET not FioriNAL. Fiorinal has aspirin in it. (My doc slipped up once and gave me the wrong thing; good thing I was paying attention!)
