protein post surgery
Your surgeon and/or dietician should advise you about that. Most seem to recommend at least 60 grams protein daily. The ASMBS suggests 1.1 gram protein per kilogram of ideal body weight, which works out to about half a gram per pound of what you should weigh. If you are doing clear liquids for a week or more after surgery, you probably ought to do clear protein drinks during that time. I would not want to go for a whole week or more with no protein at all.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
