Has anyone experienced this?

Over the last ten days or so, I have been experiencing a tingling in my hands (never both at the same time), and then my thumb and pointer finger seems to stiffen on its own. Its not that I cant bend them, but it feels like my muscles just want them to stay straight. It lasts only a few seconds, and I can often shake my hands to make in go away.

Called my surgeon today, and he wants me to go have blood work done tomorrow. He specifically wants to check my Thiamine levels. Prior to surgery I was relatively healthy (with exception of all the weight), but no issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea ect.

Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone has experienced anything like this since surgery.. or even before.

Thanks all!

Could it be a pinched nerve?

I get that a lot! I was thinking carpal tunnel but then a friend suggested perhaps I was dehydrated. I wasn't drinking enough water, I already knew that. So I would drink more, it goes away! I know everyone is different. Hope its an easy fix for you too!

A sign of vitamin B12 deficiency is tingling in the extremities. Blood work is a good idea.

OMG I have been doing the exact same thing.  I started taking B1 and upped my D3 and it seems to be helping.  I thought it was just "me" problem cause I got screws in one wrist and a rod in the other (sports injuries) and have had arthritis in my hands since.

The tingeing is not so bad cause you can shake them around a little and they stop..but that finger thing feels downright weird.  Its like they want to go off and do their own thing and you have no control for a sec. or two.  First time it happened I thought my thumb had popped out of socket.

Definitely get your labs drawn.  I experienced tingling in my hands and feet with them going numb shortly after surgery and foot drop (within a month) and my thiamine was low, B-12 not very good either (although it was at 700 it was too low for me).

That has been happening to me too with my hands and legs. My labs came back normal, but I started taking a B-complex vitamin on top of the B-12 I was taking. It has gotten better but still hasn't gone away. My left hand goes numb and tingly almost daily. Good luck!
