I have indulged a few times. One time I tried wine and had a bad dumping situation. Another time I had about 6 White Russians throughout the whole day and night (we were at a casino where they serve free drinks) and my ulcer acted up that night and the following morning. Another night I had 3 really good White Russians and I did get drunk, no bad side effects this time. That was almost 2 months ago. I'm not about drinking and I will have some on occasion. But I'd rather eat my calories, not drink them.

True but do you worry about sugar content? I dont eat much but seems like if i have a drink I get so hungry.. Its crazy.

To be honest, I forgo counting my calories those days. I still eat right and make sure I get in all of my protein. I do it so far and few in between that I don't feel I'm hurting myself or that I am ruining my weight lose in any way. I end up wanting to snack too. So i make sure i have pretzels or nuts. Do I feel guilty the next day?? I sure do!!!! But I get back on track the next day and really focus.

I've thought about this a lot because most of what I currently drink is FULL of sugar. I'm one of those Daiquiri/Bellini/Cider lovers. I imagine it'll be difficult to continue drinking what I've previously enjoyed after surgery because of the sugar content and the risk of dumping.

I guess the best thing to do would be to test it out at home to see how it's going to make you feel. If it upsets your stomach, it might not be worth it. And there are definitely a mental amount of calories in most booze, so it seems risky to indulge too much.

You said you don't like hard alcohol, but if you can handle vodka it might be a good choice. There's not a whole lot in it, and you could mix it with water and crystal light!

Good luck!

When I drink I try to stay away from sweet drinks or fruity ones but it seems they all might have some sugar. I wont dump until the next day if at all but it is in moderation. I wanted to know what other thought about drinking.
