Kelly, I just read the list from Member Services on the B-12 and it said 5000 mcg daily?  Thanks, Jane

If I personally took 5000mcg daily i would be well over. Heck at 2500 mcg daily I am normally between 1500 and 1700. But I guess its better to be to high then be low.

I know!  I have labs every 3 months because of other things outside of of my RNY, but my levels always look great but have not taken 5,000 mcg's a day!   Thank you Shannon for giving your info.   Anything else you find out on it please me know.  Much thanks, Jane kiss

The ASMBS says 350-500 mcg daily.  I think most people would not need anywhere near 5,000 mcg daily, unless their B12 was very low and they were trying to get it up.  In the end, you need to take as much as you need in order to keep your B12 level at least above 550, which is the point at which symptoms of deficiency may begin.  I like to keep mine around 1000.

It dos not matter how much I took.. my numbers stayed very low...

I switched to weekly injections... 2 years later - my levels are finally slightly above 1000 ...It may depends how well your body can store and use B12..

Thanks H.a.l.a. B.   I have had good labs, and every 3 months, but then I am only 15 months out.  Could you for me I know it's a pain but would you post "There is no crying in Baseball" one more time????  That needs to be a daily mantra for many people. I feel it's the best of the best and gives many a wake-up call.  Thanks again,  Jane kiss  P.S. Ok, another poster just posted it.  You were the only one I knew that had it.  Thanks again.  Jane

Hugs.... What is priceless that some people tell that they will only listen to the doc, then a couple days or weeks later they are here asking question about stuff... It is funny...in a way
