Does your surgeon have a group of therapists to refer you to for the psych eval? If you used one of those then they would be very familiar with the procedure and I would tend to believe their opinion because they likely do a lot of evals for WLS.  On the other hand if this doctor doesn't do a lot of WLS evals  I would get a second opinion.  I think the doctor should have been very explicit on why you needed the extra time in therapy. I do think therapy is a good thing but you need to know why its necessary and what the outcome is that they are looking for.  There might be other options of continuing therapy while you finish up your other pre-op testing and then agree to continue after surgery. 

Maybe your surgeon can help to resolve the issue as well. Good luck!!

That sucks :( I had a group therapy session an hour a week for 3 weeks. I would maybe look into another Bariatric center?
