Soft Chew Vitamin Question

Do the soft chew vitamins make a person more constipated? I found a multi and a calcium citrate that I like and I really haven't changed anything else and I seem to be getting more constipated. I read on some post when I asked about who liked what kinds of soft chews where someone almost had a bowel obstruction from soft chews. Is this true??

I would be very surprised if a soft chew vitamin caused a bowel obstruction.  What brand are you using?  Maybe I don't understand what you mean by "soft chew."

I don't think they would be likely to cause constipation, but if they have that effect on you for whatever reason, you might want to switch brands.

I am using the GNC Women's soft chew multis (2/day) and the Celebrate Calcium Citrate (2/day). I don't know if this is what is really causing it, but I have upped my stool softener to 2/day and needed Miralax the past 2 days. I'll keep an eye on it.

The ASMBS says we need 1500 to 2000 mg calcium citrate a day, so you'd need to take that three or four times a day (we can only absorb 500 mg at a time).

I looked up the multis you're using because I wasn't familiar with them.  You'd need four a day to get 200% of most things with them.   I see they have no thiamine and no copper, so you probably need to take those separately.

Calcium binds some people up. A different one without binders in them may work better for. Magnesium citrate as an addition to your daily vitamins may help also.

I take 4 magnesium pills a day and it helps a lot.  The coffee at my work helps too for some reason.  Coffee at home does nothing for me.  Haven't figured that one out yet lol.

I see people post occasionally that coffee works that way for them. It does nothing for me in that dept but it keeps me sane. I can drink some coffee.

I take the calcium citrate with vitamin D and magnesium from vitalady which helped a good bit with bathroom issues.
