Having trouble stopping weight loss

I am 8 months post op RNY. I started out at 216.8 and am currently down to 119.8. I am getting in all my liquids/protein/vitamins without trouble. My personal goal was 135 but I keep loosing. I have added in calories to my diet also. I work out 4-5 times a week and have recently starting lifting to try to build up muscle but the scale keeps going down.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to get to a point where I wouldn't want to loose anymore weight but I am afraid that may be approaching. I am only 5' tall so the 119.8 is ok for me but I don't want to loose anymore.

I have my next appointment with my surgeon next month. But was wondering if anyone has any insight into this.???

Thanks

I asked my surgeon about this at my one year and he was not concerned about my getting to thin.   He said as long as my BMI stays in the normal range, no worries.  It is still 22 so no danger.  I have stopped losing without changing any thing.

Most of us who do not start at a high BMI lose to the low end of the BMI chart.   It only becomes a problem when we get to 18 or less - which at your height, I believe is around 95 pounds or so.   Just keep doing what you are doing and let your body settle naturally.

As long as your are well nourished, with good vitamin levels and a healthy lifestyle whi*****ludes exercise, you probably don't have much to worry about.

Many people who try to manipulate their weight by adding calories at this stage end up regaining more than they are happy with!

Let your body do what it wants right now. Your BMI is still fine so unless you become under weight I wouldn't worry about it. Between year 2-3 many regain some weight (bounce back). Getting lower than what you wanted will give you that cushion should you experience it.

I'm 5'1" and weigh about the same as you.

What a wonderful problem!!!

I havent had surgery yet,but I have had 5 friends and family members that have had RNY.  Around one year after surgery they were at their lowest weight...ever. Then the body "rebounded" and they gained SOME (i.e. 5-10 lbs) back.  Thus they were about 5-10 heavier than their absolute lowest weight.

They look normal.  Not too fat..not too thin.  They look just right.

We had surgery the same day! Hello surgery twin!!

HW333--SW 289--GW of 160 5' 11" woman.  I only know the way I know & when you ask for input/advice, you'll get the way I've been successful through my surgeon & nutritionist. Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
