Dietican
So I had a appointment with my dietician and she was upset with me because I have lost too much weight since my surgery. Right now I am 8 months out and I have lost 125 pounds since surgery and 168 pounds from my highest weight in January of this year. Right now I am still 250 pounds so I would ideally like to be under 200 pounds. My dietician has told me that this is a unrealistic goal and I should try to stop losing weight and start to maintain. Has anyone else been told this after there surgery. Right now my weightloss has started to slow down. I am eating 1200 calories a day and working out for around a hour every day. She wants me to start eating 1800 calories a day and to stop working out. I am terrified that if I do this I will actually gain weight back which is terrifies me.
I just had my labs done and everything was fine. My total protein was lower then it had been 5 months ago but it only dropped 2 points. I am just not sure what I should do anymore.
Your dietician wants you to maintain your weight at 250 lbs? How tall are you? That doesn't sound right to me at all. And she wants you to stop working out? I think maybe you need to find another dietician.

Get a new dietician!!!!!
Why would you want to stop losing weight when you are still at least 50lbs heavier than where YOUR highest goal is? Honestly? She's not the boss of you - do what YOU want!
I was a lightweight (40 BMI) and lost 120lbs in 6 months and the only thing I heard was congratulations! No one was in any way concerned about how fast I had lost the weight and I had a BMI of around 21!

That's insane. I call shenanigans.
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
I don't understand this at all. What does your surgeon say? If your labs and all are fine and your not malnourished in anyway I see no reason why you should not continue towards the goal you've set for yourself. I would make sure you get your protein level back up but, don't stop exercising and losing weight if your not where YOU would like to be.
Fire her now and just keep doing what you are doing or find a new dietician. This one is off her rocker imho.
I wasn't told to "stop losing weight and try to maintain" by my nurse until I was 114 pounds at 5'3" I still lost another 7 pounds and that is because that is where I wanted to be.
Even if you were 6'10" tall your bmi would still be in the overweight category at 250 pounds, and yes I know the bmi has it's faults but surely she can't be serious!
I am 5 foot 8.
I have a appointment with my primary care doctor to see if she can help me out. I am in canada so we do not get to pick our dietician they are assigned to us. But maybe she can refer me to someone new. My dietician is also referring me to a psychologist who just kept on telling me that I needed to start to stop losing weight and to start maintaining. They said statistically if I loose more weight I am more likely to gain it back.
In Canada you cannot see another dietician? Even if you pay out of pocket for it? That doesn't sound right. If you need a referral to another one, then insist on a referral.
