What's your daily calorie goal?

I'm a bit over 8 months post op, and have found that I am able to eat more at a time. I've been panicking this week over wondering if I'm eating too much. I'm tracking again religiously on myfitnesspal, but I'm closer to 1000-1200 calories a day at this point. Getting right around 60 grams of protein. The last few days I've been between 1100 and 1200 calories..but I wasted some calories on salad dressing and granola without realizing how much. Today should be around 900 calories...probably more like 1000 because I'll want a small snack later. Should I not even be thinking in calories? I thought I had it all figured out, but the panic set in after vacationing this weekend...help!!

My intake is around 800-850 calories a day according to myfitnesspal.com. Coffee creamer and flavored water packets make me go over my goal of 800 a day. LOL!

To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”― Marc Hack

It's more that just calories.  It is about where those calories come from.  My bariatric plan for 6-12 months is 800-1200 calories ( 60-80 grams carb and 60-80 grams protein.)

Try to get your carbs from protein, vegetable and fruit sources.  Limit "white" carbs that are high calorie but low nutrition value (bread, crackers, pretzels, cookies, cake, fast food, etc.)

Add your calorie, protein & carb totals after lunch and then you know how to plan supper & a snack (if your plan allows snacks).

I kept a daily food diary for 2 years after my RNY to make sure I met my daily nutrition goals.  Now at 5 years post RNY, I keep a food diary for a few months one or two times a year.  It is so easy to let low or no nutrition carbs creep back in.  When I track my meals and write the calorie, carb, protein - I am very aware of how each food gets me where I want or takes me the opposite direction.

I always keep protein at the forefront and get fresh raw veggies and berries in daily.

Best wishes, Penny
