Ibs?

Good morning!! Anybody have irritable bowel syndrome prior to surgery? Has surgery helped?

I did not, but a friend from work did, and she doesn't have any symptoms anymore. She said it helped big time.

I had all the symptoms prior to surgery but was never diagnosed (too embarrassed to talk to my doctor about it). My issues have since resolved, so surgery, or perhaps surgery plus a better diet, definitely helped me.

I had serious IBS.Couldn't go anywhere without knowing where the bathroom was or how long was the car ride.I agree with Laura I am not sure if it was the surgery or the change in diet.But I can go for long car rides and go shopping without worrying.I had a lot of pain to.

had to have restroom close by after meals. Don't know why I was ashamed too, to tell my doctor. Suffered with the symptoms for 15+ years. But no problems anymore.

I too had the symptoms but had never been diagnosed. Symptoms are gone now not sure if it was the surgery or the better diet.

I don't know if I had the clinical definition of it, but I had some issues with my bowels. With the exception of some mild early on constipation issues until I could eat enough to get plenty of fiber in, I have had no issues since surgery.
