Highest weight ever = 256 lbs. in October of 2011, height 5' 7". Severe sleep apnea, cholesterol at 250, triglycerides at 900. I started most recent yo-yo diet struggle in April 2012 = 246 lbs.

Day of RNY, December 10, 2013 = 231 lbs. I am 49 years old, Dad of 5 amazing kids.

Today, June 11, 2014 = 142 lbs. (+ or - 2 lbs. every day last three weeks)

For those considering this procedure - I am happy to share my feelings that although I wasn't so sure in the first few weeks post-op, this is the best thing I've ever done for me and for my family.

I feel good, I look good, my labs solid, sleep apnea GONE and my wife is very happy about that!  Cholesterol meds no more! Last cholesterol 145, triglycerides 150. The biggest inconvenience now is my lack of wardrobe and having to buy new clothes.  I'm the kind of guy who never thought twice about my wife or kids getting new clothes, but I wear the same things for years. This has been an issue. LOL

I am very sensitive to the fact that there are many people with greater struggles than mine, more weight to lose, complications, issues with food, etc. however on this site are all different kinds of folks who have lived through it all and from what I can tell, most are all very happy they did this.

I am very blessed in that my complications were minimal, I can eat almost anything, I don't "dump", at least so far.  The only food I have completely eliminated is dessert - I know that if I discover I can eat that whole piece of tiramisu - well - you know what will happen, it will be followed by another the next day.  Not gonna happen.

Many thanks to all of you who post questions and all *****spond on this message board. This has been my lifeline even though I don't post very much.

I look forward to a similar post on my one year anniversary.  Thanks all!

Congratulations on a job well done!  I'm with you regarding desserts or sweets of any kind!  I don't want to find out that I DON'T dump.
