Coughing and Phlegm after RNY

Hey all,

I had surgery last Wednesday and all seems to be healing well except I have phlegm in the back of my mouth that keeps making me cough.  This is extremely painful and I don't think it's good for my healing.  Anyone know how to get rid of the nasty phlegm?

I had this issue, too.  I wasn't moving enough.  Once I started walking more and using my spirometer more, it subsided quickly.  Are you walking enough?

i'm walking quite a bit.  i called the dr office and they said it was due to the pain meds so i slowed down on those.  they also told me its ok to cough...yes it will hurt but it is ok to do.
