Nausea

Hi all, I'm about a week and a half post op (8/27)  I'm on stage 2 diet, which in my program includes a very limited list of food I can eat, including yogurt, pudding, broth, and protein drinks.  I've been having a lot of trouble with nausea.  No vomiting.  But the nausea is making it very difficult to get all my protein and fluids in (my goals are 60 fluid oz and 65 g protein).  Any suggestions?  Any idea when this will get better?  I'm struggling with regret right now because I feel so crappy and I wish I hadn't done this to myself at this point!

Call your surgeon and ask them to phone in a script for something for nausea.

I suffered from nausea for 4-5 weeks post op (especially in the morning) and I asked and asked for a script, he said NO.  They are afraid that it will mask a real problem.

Between my nut and MD they deduced it was hormonal.  when you lose fat you release hormones, ( or vice versa) can't remember but I truly sympathize.

Nothing helped me except time. I just did the best I could with protein, fluids and vitamins and slept when I could.

Dehydration can cause nausea. I used warm ginger tea and ...salty broth. Chicken broth or stock with extra ginger and spices help with my nausea a lot.

I had nausea early on like that, then it just disappeared. Peppermint TicTacs became my best friend LOL. Can't overdo them but I would bite them and let them dissolve in my mouth the peppermint calmed the nausea. Got the script from the doc, but didn't help that much. I am six weeks out and this week I was having some nausea again. I am not worried. Just keep moving on. I found drinking ice tea or something with flavor rather than jus****er has helped me get the liquid down with the nausea.  I had spoken to someone who had nausea after surgery on and off for 2 years. She said she started taking a probiotic and the nausea stopped. I've been taking a chewable probiotic, figure it can't hurt. Good Luck!

I actually sucked on Sea-band Ginger lozenges.  They worked for me.
