How long does it take to learn how to eat solids?

Hi.  I just started the soft food stage this week.  I ate 2 tablespoons of chicken salad tonight, and I got clogged. I thought I chewed well enough, maybe took 10 minutes to eat.  Was really surprised that I clogged. How long does it take to learn how to eat with the new pouch so you dont clog?  Thanks in advance for any input you have.

PS-down 40.2 pounds since starting liquid diet around 5 week's ago.  Love having loose clothes now!

I don't know how long it will take you.  I never had trouble with food getting stuck.  I just chewed a lot.

My surgeon has her patients start soft foods Day Three after surgery, and very few of them have any trouble. The only thing you need to learn is to take small bites, pause between bites, and chew everything to mush.  I am 7.5 years out and have never had anything get stuck.

After about 45 minutes I vomited it up.  Felt better soon after, but don't want to feel this way alot.  Not a pleasant feeling being clogged!

I had it happen twice. Once it came back up, the other time it went down. When it came up, it was a ludicrously small thing. I couldn't believe it had been stuck. Before surgery, I wouldn't have bothered chewing such a small thing.

The foamies are horrible. The only thing you can do is chew thoroughly, and don't let it happen again.
