I started losing hair, but not until about 5 months post op. Not so much noticeable to others, but I noticed in the drain. I've been taking 500 mcg of Biotin which is a dietary supplement that supports healthy hair and skin. I've noticed less hair in the drain since I've been taking it a bunch of weeks now.
Take Biotin, don't worry too much. Its a slow process, it will start several months after the surgery. Both my sister and I had the same surgery, and we both lost some hair. It doesn't fall out in chunks or anything scary. You will just seem to be shedding a lot. You will see in mostly in your brush and shower drain. I worried about it too, but Im much happier with the results. BTW, I really think very few people need a wig or scarf. I think it would only be necessary if you had very little hair to begin with. I wouldn't buy anything until the time comes. Your hair loss will be temporary and will stop at some point, mine did.
hope that helps
I have had 3 surgeries in the last 2 years- RNY and a surgery on each foot. I've had some hair loss after each one that was noticeable only to me. My hair grew back each time and I never needed a wig,in fact it grew back slightly curly when it had always been straight as a board. I kept my hair colored and that seemed to keep it looking a bit thicker. Don't worry about it because there is nothing you can do and the end results would be worth it even if I went bald!
