So I'm on the pureed stage and I'm allowed meatballs. They were very soft and I mashed the heck out of it. I ate one and then it felt like it was stuck in my throat. I thought I ate slow enough and mashed it up enough. Thoughts??

This happened to me A LOT!!!

Many vets gave me great advice but it still seemed to happen. Finally, it just stopped. I don't know if my pouch matured or what, but I don't have those problems anymore. From my limited experience- my advice is to eat some yogurt or drink a shake instead- and try again another day. I believe it will get better soon!

Yes that happens in the beginning. Food needs to be moist, or have a little sauce and chew, chew chew...small bites. I had my share of 'stucks'. I had read on here on one point that Bromelien or Papaya enzymes can help, or drinking a small amount of pineapple juice. (it naturally has bromelien) I have tried the pineapple juice - lt has worked for me, not instantly but worked. I am talking small amounts, like one ounce once or twice until it is better.

Meatball(s) is the clue here.  At less than a month out, one small meatball would be a huge meal and more than that would make you very uncomfortable.  Are you carefully weighing and measuring your food and  not overeating?

Meatball recipes usually include finely-ground bread or cracker crumbs.  If the meatball(s) you ate did, that's my guess what the culprit was.

And sometimes, it's just the type of meat in them.  Some people can handle some types of proteins better than others, especially in the early stages.....try maybe ground chicken or turkey meatball, no bread mix in them.......instead of beef.  Might be better for you.  Or skip the meatballs for now and stick to things like soft fish; I liked imitation crab, salmon and cream cheese pinwheels, sole......you get the picture.......

Thanks everyone!  I went back to just pudding, yogurt, ect. For a few days. I had a scrambled egg today and it went down much easier. I think the meatball was just a "hadn't eaten, wishful thinking" phase. I won't be trying that again for a long time.
