Calories One Week Post RNY Surgery
If it were me I'd bring my calories down to 600 to 800 tops, Reduce carbs to 40ish, lower your sugar and increase your water.
Are you feeling hungry? Also, talk to your nut and see what they think. I'm a bit over 2 months out and I have trouble getting to 1000 calories a day. If I get busy, I forget to eat. I do drink almost 80 oz of water a day and my protein is always around 60 to 80 or higher.
I've been hesitant to try Halo ice cream. I'm also working on getting more solid proteins in instead of protein drinks (although I do add unflavored protein to stuff if I need too)
Good luck and congrats on taking the road to getting healthy!!!

WOW!!! I can't believe you have the room for that much food to total your calories so high. My first weeks from surgery it was all I could do to get in about 300 - 500 calories, and I had absolutely no complications at all.
Where did you have your surgery? Are you following their plan? In my opinion you are eating way too much.
You should be weighing and measuring all your food.
What is your current weight?
Hello
I'm not sure of your height and weight but I was only eating around 500 calories or less 9 days out. I would drop the applesauce, ice cream and any sugary yogurts asap. This seems excessive on the calorie and sugar front to me. I am 16 months out and don't even eat more than 800 calories a day.
BUT I'm glad you are feeling great and best of luck
Hi there. Congrats on the surgery and your success so far! I had my RNY on March 1st. I was worried about my daily intake too at that point. I had my 1 month update a couple of weeks ago and these are the guidelines I received for now...
- Focus on 12g og sigar or less per serving
- 60-80g of protein a day
- 700-1000 calories a day (some days I eat up to 1200...but that is about once a week if that).
- I try to stick to under 30grams of carbs a day.
- Walk about 15-30 minutes a day
Brcause of that I stay away from breads, pastas and potatoes (oh I miss them). I have melba toast if I want something is substance.
Otherwise I don't really worry about fat content and it is okay.
I found myself "eating" constantly the first few weeks...probably out of bordem. I took up video games and knitting to keep my hands busy. It seems to help.
1200 calories a day is still way lower than we are use to I am sure, but maybe cut back a bit now so that your body doesn't get used to the volume and work against you later.
Your doing well!!! Keep it up!
Hello,
First of all, I want to thank everyone for posting their experiences on this website as it has been a tremendous resource throughout my preparation for surgery.
Luckily, I have been feeling really good since my surgery 9 days ago (maybe too good). I am still on a liquid diet for another week but I am concerned that I may be consuming too many calories (over the last 5 weeks, I've lost 40 pounds whi*****ludes optifast for 4 weeks prior to surgery). My liquid diet consists of 2 protein shakes, unsweetened apple sauce, yogurts, soups with protein powder, cottage cheese, no added sugar pudding and halo top ice cream (low sugar and high protein).
The last few days my daily nutrition consists of the following:
1,100-1,200 calories
150g of protein
100g of carbs
46g of sugar
17g of fat
8 cups of water
As mentioned, I feel good and haven't been sick at all but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience as I feel I can eat more but I am limiting myself to the above daily intake.
Thanks!
I don't even eat this many calories at 7 years out.
