Heres my menu at 5 years post op B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and 1 T peanut butter added L 31/2 oz smoked pork chop 1/2 c green beans D 31/2 oz sloppy joe meat 1/2 c mixed veggies S 1 sm apple with 1 T peanut butter. I no longer do bread or rice even brown rice. I also avoid pretend sweets like Halo top and protein bars because they trigger very real cravings for the real thing and are a very slippery slope for me. This is what works for me and has kept me at the same weight now for almost 41/2 years but we each must fond what works for us and our lifestyle.

2.5 Years out today I ate:

1 egg, 1oz ham, slice cheese. Mini cinnamon roll

greek yogurt with berries

5 oz roast beef with a few carrots

dinner will be homemade chicken soup, with 1/2 a ham sandwich if I have the room.

I could very well not eat my planned dinner and be fine- roast is incredibly filling. Since I ran today I'll eat it.

before dinner my intake is: 669 calories, 43 carb, 62 protein

5'6.5" High weight:337 Lowest weight:193/31 BMI: Goal: 195-205/31-32 BMI

I need to gain weight. Doctor's orders. I'm 5'11" and I got down to 148 pounds. Perforated ulcer. Almost didn't make it.

Is this what you planned to eat, or what you did eat? I tally up only 837 calories, right? If your doctor wants you to gain is that going to work? I'm 8 months out, but working on maintaining and I'm eating 1,300-1,600 calories per day. I had a resting metabolic rate test done to determine where I needed my calories to be. I limit carbs and need to eat 4-5 meals per day plus a couple of snacks to get that get in. A normal day does not contain any grains, potatoes, etc.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that.

Why are you counting calories? You should be doing the opposite if you need to gain.

I think coma victims probably get more than 800 calories a day.

That was the plan. I ended up with 1500 calories and I still don't gain much. I know I'm setting up bad habits for when I do.

I use slider foods like soups, or natural nut butters (peanuts, almonds, etc) to add calories when it am trying to eat more. Even though soups are not recommend for RNY, but when I try to eat more - I chose that . Stew are great. I can add extra butter, or other fats to it. Avocado is not only good for the gut, but it adds calories and texture.

Adding extra butter to almost anything.

Last but not least- adding digestive enzymes can help to digest and absorb more nutrition from your food.
